Flower Care Tips

  • Do not leave flowers in a hot or very cold car. Get flowers in water as soon as possible.

  • Mix flower food into water - this is suggested, but not necessary. The food helps keep the water clean longer and the flower better hydrated.

  • If flowers have been out of water for more than an hour, leave them in their wrap to help support them as they rehydrate.

  • Cut the stems at an angle. Place stems into water.

  • Switch out water every couple of days and recut the stems.

  • Keep out of direct sunlight and away from a heat source - these speed up the fading process.

  • Some people move their flowers into a cool basement or garage at night. If a garage, know that the temp stays above 37 degrees.

  • Remove faded flowers from design as they wilt, keep enjoying the others stems! Redesign to your liking.

  • Tulip tip - if you do not like them in the drooping phase, cut them down and put them in a taller vase or rest the head on pieces of foliage in the design.

About Our Tulips

We grew our own tulips this winter! In 2022 we took a workshop called “The Tulip Workshop” and learned how to grow them in the winter months along with hundreds of flower farmers across the country.

we’ve been trialing them since and this year we aimed for valentine’s day - and it worked!

Tulips are fascinating flowers. They can grow 2 inches a day after being cut and put in water. Drooping is part of their natural progression, some do this more than others. Some open up all the way, others stay a tighter shape. Some are fragrant, others are not. We love them all!
